Tom Andriola is a business & technology executive recognized for his ability to craft transformative
strategies leading to superior business outcomes through the use of technology, data and AI.
Having served as a business executive, chief information officer, and business transformation
leader, he has deep experience in creating strategies and translating them into operational
execution.
As a business executive at Philips Healthcare, he served as general manager of several healthcare
software and SaaS businesses, leading teams on four continents. He built and expanded those
businesses through organic, inorganic and first-of-kind product introductions to penetrate new
markets and scaled businesses from startup to $150 million in annual revenues.
As a business transformation leader at Philips, he ran a global program to harmonize business
processes and technology platforms after a series of acquisitions, which delivered $220m EBITA
contribution in six quarters.
He has previously served as CIO for several organizations, including the University of California
System with an organization of 8500 people across 10 campuses and five health centers where he
strategically realigned the technology function to support the organization’s goals while creating
operational efficiencies and generating $346 million in cost savings. He also was responsible for
building the health enterprise data assets representing 16 million patients seen the University of
California health locations, including two nationally recognized health facilities in UCSF & UCLA, for
quality improvements, research and real-world evidence engagements with industry.
Currently, Tom serves as Vice Chancellor & Chief Digital Officer at UC Irvine overseeing a portfolio
of programs that have transformed it into one of the most innovative universities in the world. He
also consults helping organizations pivot for the digital and AI era with topics such as “data as
strategy,” “AI at the Center,” and “Leadership in the Era of AI.”
