Partner

Stephen Badger is an investor, board leader, and former senior executive with deep experience in global consumer businesses, sustainability, and purpose-driven growth.

He was one of the largest early investors in, and a key developmental force behind, Seeds of Change, an organic seed and food company, where he served as President from 1995 to 2004. Following its acquisition, he joined Mars, Incorporated as Global Director of Corporate Affairs, where he led the launch of the company’s first global sustainability platform, health and nutrition workstream, and unified global corporate brand.

In 2008, Stephen joined the Board of Mars, Incorporated and served two terms as Chairman (2011–2014 and 2017–2020). During his chairmanship, he oversaw the creation of Mars’ first 25-Year Vision, guided a successful CEO succession, and helped fundamentally evolve the board’s strategic role. He also stewarded the development of Mars’ first formal corporate purpose - “The world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today” - and the Compass, a four-quadrant framework integrating financial performance with societal impact.

Stephen currently serves on the boards of Mars, Incorporated, The Fulfillment Institute (of which he is a co-founder), The Association for Traditional Arts, the Muscle Shoals Music Foundation, and the Economics of Mutuality Foundation. He is also a GP of The March Group and serves as an advisor to various organizations including HANAH and Good Money (which he also co-founded).

Stephen produced the 2013 documentary Muscle Shoals, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim.  He attended Duke University and Reed College and earned a BA in Anthropology from Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio.
