
Tom is a business and technology executive recognized for his ability to build and scale businesses—blending P&L leadership, GTM strategy, M&A integration, platform innovation and exponential technologies leading to superior business outcomes. Having served as a business executive, chief information officer, and business transformation leader, he has deep experience in creating strategies and translating them into operational execution.
As a business executive at Philips Healthcare, Tom served as General Manager of several health tech businesses, leading teams on 4 continents. He built and expanded those businesses through organic, inorganic and first-of-kind product introductions to penetrate new markets and scaled businesses from startup to $150m in annual revenues.
As a business transformation leader at Philips, he ran a global program to harmonize business processes and technology platforms after a series of acquisitions, which delivered $220m EBITA contribution in 6 quarters.
He has previously served as CIO for several organizations, including the University of California System with an organization of 8,500 people across 10 campuses and 5 health centers where he strategically realigned the technology function to support the organization’s goals while creating operational efficiencies and generating $346m in cost savings. He also was responsible for building the health enterprise data assets representing 16m patients seen at the University of California health locations, including 2 nationally recognized health facilities in UCSF & UCLA, for quality improvements, research and real-world evidence engagements with industry.
Currently, Tom leads Digital Squared, an AI-powered advisory firm focusing on strategic consulting, data & AI platform design, business transformation and programs to rewiring today's leaders for Growth Mindset & Exponential Thinking.
